About New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center

OUR OBJECTIVE:

New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center will strive to be recognized as the premier service provider in New England for state-of-the-art equine health care to both the clients of referring veterinarians from the region, and directly to horse owners and professionals.

Through our talented and dedicated clinicians and our experienced, trained staff, we will provide the most up-to-date technological, surgical and medical treatments available in the industry.  We will develop the center for the express purpose of promoting the optimum care possible to the profession, people and animals that we serve.

We will continue to provide these services to our clients and referring veterinarians on a 24 hour-per-day, 7 day-per-week basis as appropriate to a full service referral hospital.

OUR HISTORY (and NEW BEGINNINGS):

New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center is a privately held professional limited liability company (PLLC) offering the highest quality medical and surgical care to the equine population of New England and beyond.  Our present client base is 11,000+, with approximately 150 referring equine veterinarians throughout the region.

Our founder and CEO, D. Michael Davis, DVM, MS is an accomplished equine surgeon and has been practicing veterinary medicine in NH for over 13 years.  He graduated from Colorado State University as a DVM and completed simultaneous surgical residency program in Equine Surgery and MS degree in Veterinary Anatomy at Louisiana State University in 1991.  Dr. Davis taught and was an equine surgeon at the University of Montreal and then joined Rochester Equine Clinic in 1992 as staff surgeon and clinician.  Dr. Davis became the major case and income generating clinician at REC in 1997 and became a 1/3 interest partner in REC, P.A. in 2000.  He has been the primary force in the growth and success of the practice.

Facility, ownership of same and owner/tenant relationships have been just three restricting factors limiting not only Dr. Davis' continued growth, but the overall growth and expansion of the entire practice.  It has been Dr. Davis' goal to provide the practice a facility and home where quality of service and growth both continue to rise.  This goal was only attainable through the purchase and development of an entirely new medical and surgical center and the implementation of key personnel changes.

Dr. Davis is pleased to have Dr. Jacqueline Bartol joining him as partner and co-owner of New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center, PLLC.  Dr. Bartol completed both her graduate (DVM) and residency training at Cornell University and is a board-certified internal medicine clinician (DACVIM).  She joined Rochester Equine Clinic in 2000 and has been an outstanding contributor to the expanding practice.

Present REC partner Dr. Deme Erickson is also joining Drs. Davis and Bartol at the new facility in Dover, establishing her own expanding ambulatory practice, TNT Equine, PLLC.  Drs. Davis, Bartol and Erickson will co-own the land / facility complex together.  Dr. Erickson has been in the ambulatory practice of Rochester Equine Clinic for 14 years.  Her expertise in equine reproduction and dentistry as part of TNT Equine will complement the services offered by New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center.  Dr. Erickson’s ambulatory practice will include Drs. Staci Kehir and Gregory Dowd.

Also joining Drs. Davis and Bartol in the New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center practice are Drs. Monika Calitri and Andy Kaneps.  Dr. Calitri is a graduate of Colorado State University and has been an intern at Rochester Equine Clinic this past year.  She brings a wealth of personal experience as a horsewoman / rider and is also certified in veterinary acupuncture.  Dr. Andris J. Kaneps is perhaps the most decorated veterinarian at New England Equine.  Extensively published, Dr. Kaneps received his PhD (University of California, Davis) and board-certification in surgery (DACVS).  He is presently a clinician at Parrott Equine Associates, but will be available at New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center on a scheduled basis.
