Equine Surgery
Our hospital has three surgeons available: owner, Dr. Mike Davis, staff surgeons, Dr. Andy Kaneps and Dr. Omar Maher. All surgeons are available for consultation by referring veterinarians and horse owners alike. They can discuss surgical options, what to expect before, during and after surgery and provide you additional information to make the best decision for your horse.
We have two modern operating theaters that include viewing areas where you may observe the surgical team in action. Padded induction and recovery stalls, along with the most modern veterinary anesthesia techniques, reduce stress on your horse during the procedure. There is always a surgeon and surgery team available for emergency procedures.
Equine surgery techniques are available for colic (abdominal) surgery, arthroscopic surgery, upper respiratory surgery (tie-back, sacculectomy, arytenoidectomy) dental and sinus surgery, urinary & reproductive tract surgery, treatment of fractures, hoof and foot surgery and repair of lacerations including skin grafts.

Laparoscopic surgery is now available as well, using minimaly invasive technique on horses standing or anesthetized such as ovariectomy, cryptorchid castration, Castration without testicule removal, and nephrosplenic space closure.
Dr. Davis, Dr. Kaneps and Dr. Maher have over 58 years of combined equine surgery experience to help your horse achieve the most beneficial outcome.
